The British Association for Chinese Studies (BACS) holds an annual conference at a different British centre for Chinese Studies each year. The BACS Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held in conjunction with the annual conference.
The BACS Annual Conference welcomes international and UK-based participants, including BACS members and non-members. BACS members are eligible for a discounted registration fee. Typically, the conference includes distinguished keynote speakers in plenary sessions and specialist panels. We welcome both panel and individual paper submissions. Call for Papers:
The Scottish Centre for China Research is pleased to announce the Annual Conference of the British Association for Chinese Studies (BACS), to be held at the University of Glasgow from 7 to 9 September, 2017. The BACS Annual Conference is open to BACS members and non-members alike, and we welcome participants from all countries. Panels and individual papers are invited across the full range of disciplines within the humanities and social sciences on themes and issues in Chinese Studies and relating to the Greater China region.
Submission of Abstracts:
Panel proposals should include: names, affiliations and contact details (email addresses) of all proposed presenters and proposed panel chair and/or discussant, where applicable; titles of individual papers; and an abstract for each paper (max 250 words). Proposals for individual papers should include: name, affiliation and contact details (email address), title of paper and abstract of max 250 words. Individual papers will be assigned to panels by the organising committee.
Abstracts for panels and individual papers should be submitted by 18th April 2017 to bacs2017@glasgow.ac.uk.
Panels and papers will be selected by the organising committee, and notification of acceptance will be made by 30 May 2017.
The British Association for Chinese Studies has an online peer-reviewed journal (JBACS), and presenters are invited to submit their papers for consideration by the journal editors following the meeting.
