Dear researchers of Buddhist Studies (with a focus on contemporary China and related regions),

Since the launch of our Franco-German research project last year — “CBElites: Interaction Patterns of Buddhist Elites in Contemporary China (1978–2028)” — we have been working on a small website presenting the project and its activities: https://cbelites.com/

Beyond serving as an information platform, the website is also intended as a starting point for broader and more strategic research developments within the field.

To this end, we have created a “Bibliography of Western Scholarship”: https://cbelites.com/bibliography-of-western-scholarship/. This bibliography focuses, broadly speaking, on scholarship related to Buddhism in the Sinosphere since the late 1970s. We began with around 200 entries and have now reached more than 800 references. Please feel free to explore it (read the introduction carefully to understand the current scope of this collection) and check whether your own publications — or those of others — are missing (you can simply search by author/editor name).

In addition, we have launched a “Who’s Who in Buddhist Studies”: https://cbelites.com/whos-who-in-buddhist-studies/. This section aims to provide an overview of scholars working on Buddhism in contemporary China, though it is still very much a work in progress and will continue to expand over time. Here, we also invite you to contact us with any further suggestions for expanding and improving it.

The website is of course meant to be used freely and at your discretion, and we would be very grateful for any comments, corrections, additions, or suggestions you may have. The more contributions and feedback we receive, the more comprehensive and up to date the platform can become.
